‘The energy behind the expression is what we receive'
Quartz is found at the earth’s surface all over the world. If a crystal of quartz is accurately cut and shaped and if a small current is applied from a battery, it will oscillate at a set frequency – normally tuned to 32,768 Hz. This means that quartz can, and is, used to accurately regulate time in clocks, watches and computers. It is not only used in used in the electronic, electrical & water treatment industry but also in aviation, aerospace and buildings throughout history, most notably the incredible Egyptian pyramids. The crystal lattice is very similar in form to the DNA double-helix structure and has an ability to store, reproduce, amplify, harmonise, and radiate electromagnetic forces.
The quartz crucibles that grew the silicon chips for the computer industry could be called the grandparents of the Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls. It was at this time in silicon valley that by chance it was discovered that they also had a song to sing.
People from all walks of life are drawn to listen and play the bowls. The ‘Alchemies’ are made of very pure, ethically mined quartz blended with crystals, precious gemstones, minerals and precious metals. It is an ongoing process of refinement to adjust the unique manufacturing process, that results in unique pieces of sound art.
When you strike the outer edge or move a special mallet around the rim of the bowl, their sound (when played from peace), invites you to recognise the peace inside yourself. The sound of these natural elements are like no other instruments. Each bowl has its own base note and many of the bowls have two or more overtones. The bowls are not made to a particular note and it is in fact Impossible to determine what the note will be when they are created. Once the creation process is complete, the frequency of the bowl is measured. The bowls are available in all the notes spanning across four octaves, from deep to high.
I have always had a connection to vessels, colour and sound, reminiscent of something that I can’t quite put my finger on. Like every moment that offers a symbolic reflection, there is always doorway to the journey home
